Riesling 2004 Won Silver at the Air New Zealand Wine Awards 2005. The fruit of this Riesling was harvested from the Ellin Vineyard. This is a relatively cool part of the Wairau Valley which offers more citrus characters to the flavour spectrum of Riesling grapes. The resulting wine is pale straw in colour with hints of green. Aromas of grapefruit, honeysuckle, lime and mandarin leap from the glass with subtle more intense aromas of apricot. This light bodied easy drinking wine shows mouth filling citrus on the palate. The distinct mineral notes lead through to well balanced acidity and a round smooth pleasing finish. Enjoy this Riesling with Asian cuisine, chicken rice and spicy seafood dishes.
Limited Edition Reserve 2003 Pinot Noir Won Gold at the Royal Easter Show 2005 and Silver at the Bragato Wine Awards 2005. The fruit of this wine was harvested from the Kernick Vineyard in Rapaura. Harvested in the cool of the autumn morning the fruit was cooled for a 5 day-cold-soak. It then went through malolactic fermentation in old and new French oak for 10 months. This results in the wine having a lovely rich ruby colour. Aromas of ripe plum and black cherry integrate well with subtle savoury oak. On the palate prune, black cherry and cassis integrate with the subtle oak and soft malo characters and silky tannins gives a seamless and elegant lingering finish in the mouth. Enjoy this fantastic wine with lamb, veal, braised duck and good hard cheese.
