Merlot Malbec Cabernet 2004. Won Bronze at Air NZ Wine Competition 2006 and another Bronze at Royal Easter Show 2006. Cuisine Magazine 4 Stars award. The berries were hand harvested from two regions in the North Island – Auckland and Hawkes Bay. An exotic blend of Merlot (48.4%) and Malbec (25.8%) from the clay based soils from the Auckland vineyards combined with broad structured Cabernet Sauvignon (25.8%) from the gravelly terrain of Hawkes Bay. A deep and vibrant colour wine, the nose is greeted by a mass of brooding dark stonefruits, perfumed berry fruits and exotic florals. The palate is abundant with fleshly ripe fruits, with hints of liquorice, dark chocolate and spice, whilst the finish is graced with fine tannins and poise with fruit concentration and refined structure.
Merlot Cabernet Franc 2002 A blend of 60% Marlborough Merlot and 40% Auckland Cabernet Franc brings together a soft, medium bodied wine with layers of ripe berry fruits of both varieties. 15 months Barrique ageing adds toasty oak with some vanilla and smoky characteristics with soft tannins.
This hand harvested 2006 Marlborough Pinot Noir won Bronze at the Liquorland Top 100 International Wine Competition 2007. The hand harvested berries were from different blocks with different clone materials and soil types, all with different flavour and aroma profiles. The free-run juice went to a mixture of new and seasoned oak barriques. The colour is cerise red. The nose is lifted with bright red fruits, crushed rose petal and hints of leather. The palate is reminiscent of plum, dark cherries with a whisp of vanillin oak, opening out further with notes of chocolate and spice. Silky tannins are carried further with a fine mineral edge.
